Photography / Fine Print Workshops
The workshops meet the need for personal one-to-one or at most one-to-two coaching in the field or darkroom or both. Participants can book a day or two (or longer) with Colin and have the coaching pitched at whatever level they need, whether it be for the absolute beginner or advanced enthusiast. As an experienced teacher Colin feels participants can expect each day to be perfectly tailored to their individual needs. This can be so much more valuable and replace months or years of hard won personal experience or group workshops with many more participants.
Workshops can be in either the darkroom or in the field or designed as a joint workshop in both field and darkroom. The Northumbrian countryside around Colin’s home town of Hexham is both varied and magnificent. Hexham is about ten miles from the best sections of Hadrian’s Wall and if architectural subjects are your choice then Hexham has many fascinating mediaeval buildings including its magnificent abbey. For fine mediaeval, Georgian, Victorian and modern architecture the cities of Newcastle and Gateshead are only 30 minutes away by car.
The quoted prices include any handouts Colin has written, all processing solutions, equipment use and the first £15.00 of paper costs. Colin often uses film developers and paper developers that he mixes up from raw chemicals as he feels these can have certain advantages over commercial solutions. These as well as proprietary film and paper developers will be available for you to try. A light lunch and refreshments is also included. Any dietary requirements can be accommodated.
The darkroom is fully equipped and can handle film formats from 35mm. to 5x7inches. There is an 8ft. by 3ft sink and a choice of both diffuse or condenser light sources.
The prices quoted do not include film or overnight accommodation (Hexham has conveniently located hotels and Bed and Breakfast places and this can be easily arranged for you at cost). If required it may be possible for coaching to be arranged in your locality or darkroom but reasonable travelling expenses will apply.
